Shipt Review

Grocery Delivery. Such a simple concept that seems like an absolute luxury. But this little luxury may just revolutionize my weekends. I actually love doing my grocery shopping. When I can go by myself, that is. Usually I get to do that on the weekend, because my awesome hubby understands how difficult it is to drag two little people to the store. But going to the grocery store on the weekend has a specific cost for me. That cost comes in the form of time. Let’s do some math. Making grocery list: 30 to infinity minutes Getting showered & presentable ... Read More »

SNOWPOCALYPSE 2014

Y’all.  The last 3 days have been crazy.  In case you didn’t hear, it snowed in the South.  And it didn’t just snow.  We had an incorrect forecast, a storm that had the roads covered in ice in less than an hour, and a gazillion motorists all dumped out onto the roads at exactly the same moment.  If you’re interested in reading what actually happened in and around Birmingham, here’s a great article: A Dusting of Chaos. I, like many others, couldn’t make it home on Tuesday.  Thankfully, I did make it to my mom’s house.  If I had to ... Read More »

Why My Husband Puts Up With Me, I’ll Never Know

Why My Husband Puts Up With Me, I’ll Never Know

So, we’re going to have to talk about this whole AGE thing pretty soon.  Not today, because I am too tired to think too hard about it.  That being said, I can only blame age for what has been happening to my memory.  And the ability to find things.  And the general scatter-brained-ness that I currently exhibit. It always seems to negatively affect my husband too.  Somehow, he’s always caught in the middle of it.  I typically secretly-in-my-head blame him for moving the missing object or not putting something back in its proper place. Because, I mean, it just couldn’t ... Read More »

From Pink Ribbons to Yellow Ribbons. And. A Nice Hot Shower.

Molly came home from school at the beginning of last week with a pink slip of paper in her “Take Home Folder.”  It was sort of a gut-punch and made us super excited all at the same time. I’m sure you’re wondering why a slip of paper asking our child to wear a pink shirt would have us feeling such mixed emotions.  It’s pretty simple: both of our mothers had breast cancer.  My mom has been cancer free for over 10 years.  I remember the day her oncologist released her.  Mom was ecstatic and nervous and relieved and sad all ... I Wonder Why the Maid Didn’t Come This Week

I Wonder Why the Maid Didn’t Come This Week

I feel sure she just got lost, or missed the day on her calendar, and misplaced my phone number… If it continues to happen, I’m afraid I’ll have to terminate employment. Alas…that left the house cleaning to little old me. Which means, it didn’t happen.  If you’ll recall, I wrote last week about the pressures of being a mother working mom parent woman spouse adult human being.  There are just some things that cannot get done. I had things to DO people! Like go to the Greek Food Festival.  And yoga. And the grocery store. And church. And Costco. And ... Read More »

This Old (Weird) House

This Old (Weird) House

Apparently, I’m not going to get very far in this whole blog thing without giving some background on our house. Too many of y’all on Facebook were asking about the dungeon and the elevator, and I have a feeling that these oddities and more will come up every so often like they did a couple of days ago. So here it goes. After having lived with my mom for a year to save money, Daniel and I set out to find the perfect house. And before we go there, can we talk about the saving of money? We lived in ... Read More »
